Jim Engel 1948-2017

Jim EngelIt is with great sadness that I report the death of Jim Engel.

Jim was the greatest friend and possesed a vast knowledge of stained glass in its many forms. During his years spent repairing and restoring old leaded windows and lamps, he was always willing to share his knowledge and expertise.

Long discussions about the historical and artisitic aspects of this art form made every conversation or road trip with him both a treat and a learning experience that was always full of fun.

Whether we talked about the latest basket case lamps in his shop for repair, or art, music, history, motorcycles, Alfa Romeos, or what was currently ailing his car, I will always treasure the time I spent with him.

Photo was 2001 in NYC, our best day out ever. The Neustadt at the Queens Museum.
