A Very Fine Tiffany Favrile Glass and Bronze Hydrangea Floor Lamp, 1899 - 1920

This lamp appeared in Sotheby's April 1995 auction of items from the Collection of John Mecom Jr..
The domical shade with an all-over pattern of full blown hydrangea blossoms in rich mottled and opalescent shades of sea green and pearly white striated with lime green, olive green and pale pink opalescence, several blossoms with fractured glass inclusions in sea green, rose, lime green, amber and lemon yellow, the leafage in emerald green mottled and opalescent striated with grass green with fractured glass inclusions in amber, olive green and chocolate brown, the branches in chocolate brown striated with opalescence, puce, emerald green and amber, reserved against a ground shading from depp sky blue to gray blue in mottled and opalescent glass; on an adjustable floor base with martele surface, the baluster standard splitting to form five outward flaring rod supports, conjoined at intervals by circular belts, the lower belt forming the circular base, black brown patina, has finial, shade impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK, base unsigned. Height extended 7 Ft 5", lowered, 5 Ft 8 1/4".
