An Important Early Tiffany Favrile Glass and Bronze Turtleback Tile Chadelier, c.1890-1900
From Sotheby's December 6th 1996 auction.
In three sections,
the upper portion with leaf-tip form top with basket-weave pattern
in amber ripple glass reserved against red, mottled pink and
white above a central orb-shaped section with four large medalions
of irridescent amber glass turtleback tiles within a border of
roughly faceted amber glass jewels, intersperced with four smaller
medallions of similar design, surrounded by stylized flowerheads
and scrolling leafage in amber riplle glass striated with white,
the scrolls centering striated aubergine and brown glass tiles,
above a lower section with floral wreaths in shades of amber
and green ending in a teardrop form in graduated rectangular
amber glass tiles centering an irridescent amber turtleback glass
tile, the whole pendant from four bronze chains with links set
with irridescent amber glass turtleback tiles.
