After many months spent in anticipation of a visit to see Byron Vreeland, Linda and I were finally knocking on his door. Nothing can quite prepare one for the scale and diversity of this wonderful lifetime collection and above all, Byron's hospitality.

Amphora pottery collectors will already know of Byron as author of a massive work on the subject, Monsters and Maidens. This 546 page volume has become the "go to" reference and authority on Amphora. Being the hands-on individual that he is, Byron created the photography, text and layout himself. Writing the book was just one of many projects, his skills extend to just about every facet of home creation from its initial construction to electrical, plumbing, plastering and the creation of a full-on mosaic fireplace and mosaic floor.

To accommodate a new window acquisition that clearly didn't have a suitable location in the exisiting house, he simply added on a new room! Thank you Byron for a visit we will never forget.
